Thanksgiving 2012
Bit of a strange, but sweet - Thanksgiving. It was our first TG in 26 years that has not been celebrated w/ the cousins at Grandmother's house. GM & GD called it off this year - said they didn't want to prepare so much food (they did anyway) and have to get their house ready (it was spotless today). Tough year for them. So after reading some Thomas Aquinas this AM, I headed to GM and GD w/ Uncle Wendell and my sister for coffee and hanging out on the back porch.
- They have this beautiful yellow tree in the corner of their yard - which is a dynamic yellow and we all looked at.
- UW is building a house on False River, the resort lake for BR residents. I can't wait to go visit! haha
Lacey is with Duncan in Natchez, she's an RN working in Geriatrics and Psych right now, as he's about to graduate in civil engineering. Taylor will graduate in May, but is interested in Real Estate development, especially renewal projects (downtown renewals). Blake loves his job as a "land man" and is dating a rodeo gal Amanda (?).
- For lunch, I made a Fruit salad, Matt carved the turkey, Amy made the Succo-tash, my Grandmother's recipe, and Mom served all the fixings (Carrot suffle (add eggs and flour and spices and whip), Ham, cornbread dressing, and sweet potatoes
- We watched Princess Bride afterwards, nice and peaceful.
Overall, it was a good day. Tough to celebrate any holidays without Daddy-O, but you learn to move on (you have no choice - well I guess you do - more like, you have no choice if you want to move on healthily.) It was a beautiful day, nice to be with the family. Mom had a Turkey stuffing story, Amy told me her Desert Island movies were #1 The Sound of Music, Anastasia, Fast and the Furious - Tokyo, Cinderella (Brandy edition), and Much Ado about Nothing.
